4 more days

And I’m getting married!!
And then on Monday we’re headed here for the honeymoon.
And once we’re back, we’re starting a training plan for the August 31st VA Beach Rock & Roll 1/2 marathon.
See you then!!

Post Race Thoughts

On nutrition:
I think the biggest reason my body kept going strong through the finish (well until 1/4 mile from the finish) was highly influenced by the nutrition it had received. I stayed very well hydrated throughout the week before the event. I tried to eat a lot of protein the week before the event, carbs […]

We did it!!!

We did it!!
We didn’t cross the finish line last. We didn’t finish in last place, either.
It was SO fun! 50 degrees, cloudy, 15-25mph winds.
I can’t wait to do it again!!
More to come…

We’re getting there….

I just bought a tri suit for the triathlon. I don’t even have a great pair of running shoes. Actually my plan for the day is to push hard on the swim & the bike and then if I really have to, I will allow myself to walk part of the run (ummm, I’m being […]

first indoor cycle

Sarah showed me how to use the indoor spinning machines today. I have no idea how far I went or how fast I was going, as that information is no where to be found on the machine. But I cycled for 30 solid minutes. It was pretty easy… of course I had it on a […]

Learning the ropes of biking

Christy and I met at the park with the intention of riding our bikes on one of the trails. It was a beautiful day and a great opportunity to get some trail riding in.
However, once we got the bikes off of their racks I remembered I needed to pump my tires. (I keep hearing from […]

more recruits!

I met Tommy’s co-worker and new (but good) friend “Britt” this past weekend. Throughout the evening, Britt mentioned his insecurity about his weight more than once — he used it as the butt of his jokes most of the evening. I told him he should learn the “joy of motion” (thanks Sarah!) and before he […]
