About Me

My husband & I

I am a 26yr old female living in the hills of VA, living my dream of being both a professional photographer and a full-time wife.

I started this blog sometime in July 2007, at which point I was not much of an active person at all (I couldn’t run a full mile without stopping). I started the blog to help keep myself motivated and encouraged to work towards my goal of completing a sprint triathlon in spring 2008.

Since August 2007 I have trained my body and have run four 5k races and finished one sprint triathlon in March 2008. Talk about a thrilling feeling! I never thought I would reach that goal - and honestly, not many people in my life believed in me, either.

I grew up in the pool. I was on a competitive swim team from age 5 until 18 (graduation from high school). I am slowly learning how to enjoy running and am pretty far off from knowing anything about a bike (except how to ride one). But completing my short-term goals kept me motivated and encouraged that I could complete a sprint tri in Spring 2008 (two weeks before my wedding day) - and I DID! I LOVED it and hope to do more in my life.

I hope to only become more addicted to exercise and the event of the triathlon. I want to reach and maintain good health for the rest of my life. (Okay, and secretly convince my husband to be involved, too!)

An excerpt from my first “About Me” page:

My first goal is (was) to run the entire length of a 5K at the Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot. (Did not complete, however I completed the goal 10 days later at the Christmas Classic 5k Race.) My second goal is to complete my first Sprint Triathlon in April 2008. (Completed in March, 2008) And my third goal is to not stop there!

Congrats & welcome to the world of Running (and fitness)!!! You’ll do well, I’m sure! Blogging is a great help to stay focused and get yourself pumped up for your first 5K! I wish I had blogged years ago when I started my first stint in running. I’m only a year older than you, but this time of life is the perfect time to get started in running or other sports! Good luck, I look forward to reading more!

Great set of goals - achievable, but probably looking a little scary too. It will be hard work, but I’m sure you will succeed!

You are awesome! I would love to someday do a tri….I’m afraid I would sink to the bottom of whatever cold lake we were swimming in! Best of luck reaching all your goals!! And I love that you made a goal not to stop….that’s the best!

ps. I LOVE your photos!!

Hi Liz, how did you add the race goals on the left hand side strip?

Nice design by the way!

Hi Liz, I am also trying to figure out how to add the race goals, like the ones you posted on the upper left side. Any suggestions? Thanks. Good luck.

Welcome to my fitness blog! Actually, it's more of a blog chronicling my on-again/off-again exercise habits. After being MIA around here for a year, I am back again to blog about my health/nutrition. And hopefully I'll have some exercise to discuss while I'm at it. :)
