After the wedding

I pushed myself in the water this morning. I kept losing count of the laps I was swimming. So I’d start over and then I would forget to look at the clock! I know, ridiculous. I never did get a solid time for my 300m swim, but I know I swam it strong and hard and it was probably my best time yet. I pushed myself so much that I got out of the water with a pounding headache. Then I got a little bit scared for the tri this weekend again. I really hope and pray that I won’t have to bike and run with a pounding headache. That will take all of the fun out of it for me. I thought I was well hydrated this morning… I guess not. But it was a good reminder to stay hydrated the rest of this week to help prep for the race this weekend.

I really miss training and being excited about the triathlon. This wedding stuff sure has been a big distraction (a good distraction, but a distraction). I am looking forward to getting back into things after the big day (well, this weekend is a big day… but really the Big Day is April 12th). My sister and I have a goal to run in the VA Beach Rock & Roll 1/2 Marathon in August. Melbean spoke so highly of it last summer… and the flat course and frequent bands I think will make for a really enjoyable race. Another friend (as well as Tommy) wants to run in the VA 10-miler one month after that and I will admit I am a little freaked out by that one. It’s a HILLY course… people come from all over the country to run that race. But if I can run in a 1/2 marathon, then I can run a hilly 10-miler, right? So… I’ve got two big-time running goals later this year and if THEY don’t teach me to love running in 2008, then I am not sure if I’ll ever learn to love running. (That’s one of my goals of 2008.)

So hopefully after April 12, 2008 I’ll be back into the swing of things over here at Sweat365… I feel bad for neglecting the blog so much!

  1. We will welcome you back with open arms!

    Have a great wedding… :)

  2. I’ll be running the 1/2 too! Its a great time with all different level runners. COOL first one - I think. You can do it!

Have you invested in any of the cliff shot bloks? You should they’ll help - I think! http://www.clifbar.com/food/products_shot_bloks/ I hate the gels, but the bars are a-okay! Just make sure you have enough water! I think you’re supposed to take them every 1/2 hour to 45 minutes as needed…I think. It’ll tell you on the package though. The potassium really helps with cramping…and maybe headaches. Not sure though :)
