on a roll!, take two

I swam 900m Friday AM with Christy as my first workout in weeks. I have not been eating very well (a mix of stress and a new medicine that curbs my appetite) and ended up very sick by lunch time. I went home and slept until dinner time. I ate a huge dinner, drank a glass of wine (and a few glasses of water), hit the sheets and woke up bright and early at 3am Saturday. Oh, and feeling FANTASTIC. Isn’t that funny? Hah.

Anyway, so Christy invited me to a group bike ride today at 3pm. I was real anxious about it and she even admitted that she had a few bad dreams about it as well (as you can tell neither of us had ever done it before… haha). But! The whole group took off nice and slow. And DO YOU SEE HOW FAR WE WENT?! 15 miles!! Holy cow! I actually planned on only going 12… (it was an up and back course so I couldn’t lose them) but I went ahead and did the whole thing because the crowd was easy to keep up with. It was mostly a nice stroll-along for about 75% of the group, but it was a really great ride for me (it was HARD, but good). I think the first 7 miles were the toughest — a ton of uphills. The way back was so much faster, all those uphills were down. I was so proud of myself and am all pumped up again for Smithfield.

I checked out Smithfield’s results from last year. I really might come in last place. But it’s okay. I called my sister today to tell her about my 15M ride and she asked about the triathlon. I told her the distances and she asked if I thought she could do it — she totally can. I said “I am going to come in last place, why don’t you do it with me and cross the finish line with me?” She said “I would love that!” But then she immediately jumped back to “Well I will think about it.” I said “No! What is there to think about! You KNOW you can do it — let’s just do it!!” I think I talked her into it.. it’s just a matter of her coordinating babysitting and traveling, but that would be SO COOL! And it would make coming in last place about 100 times more enjoyable. Ha ha.

Anyway — training is underway. The group rides together every Sunday at 3pm, so I plan to be there next week — same time, same place. I have to get back into my running, too….

But I’ll get there. And I will cross the finish line. And this will be just the beginning. :)

  1. Welcome back! Glad to hear your training is getting going again.

I hope our sister can race with you! I think that would be lots of fun for both of you.
