Went swimming with Christy this morning.

Have I told you all about Christy? Tommy’s sister? I know I have mentioned her a few times. But, did I ever give her credit for being the one who talked me into committing to this triathlon? Here’s how the story goes:

About a year and a half ago I walked into her house with new running shoes on my feet. Apparently the ones she had been eyeing for a while. I said “I’m training for a triathlon!” Apparently that was all it took for her. She took a good, long look at me and thought to herself “Uh, if this girl can do a triathlon, so can I.”

And guess what? A triathlon she did. And guess who didn’t do one? This girl. So last fall she said to me “You HAVE to do it! You can TOTALLY do it! I feel so, so much better. I feel so proud and so amazed at myself. It’s AWESOME. Do it! Do it!” And so I said “Okay, okay. But can I train with you?” And she said “No. You can’t keep up with me. You need to train yourself like I did.”

And so I still committed. And I trained a little here and there — as you all have seen.

Yesterday morning she called me at 8:30am and said “I need help getting to the gym. I am not training the way I need to be training. Let’s go swim!” So we went swimming this morning. And it was a great work out. She’s the competitive type so that always helps both of us push a little further. She pushes herself and she pushes me.

She’s such a ray of sunshine. We are going to swim again next Friday. I need to seriously get my act together now. It’s so freakin cold outside — SO cold outside. I am discouraged by my lack of motivation. I got that iPod shuffle for Christmas and it still does not have workout tunes on it. Why? Because I don’t have iTunes. I mean, I do now, but Tommy’s downloaded music is not compatible or something. Grrr. So I need to pay for some songs and get a good mix on the iPod.

Anyway, anyway. enough talking. I need to just DO.

I’ll be back to post more soon!

  1. Hmm… you should be able to upload those songs into iTunes. You’ll have to make a back-up copy of them and then convert them to itunes/apple readable files, but it can be done without spending more on music! Or go to your local library and rip some cds to get you started…

Anyway… looking forward to you workin hard girl!
