a Y swim

Workout:

  • Type: Swim
  • Date: 01/10/2008
  • Time: 06:30:00
  • Total Time: 00:25:00.00
  • Distance: 400 yd
  • Average Pace: 6:11.9/100yd

I went swimming with my roomie this morning. She likes to just be moving and active so she spent her time treading water while I swam a few laps. We hopped in and I timed my very first 50. I didn’t sprint but I went at a good pace to see what I could estimate my 100/yd time to be for my entry into the triathlon. I just wanted to see what my starting point was. It wasn’t too bad, but I know I can definitely improve.

After that we did a few 50’s kicking. Then Katie stayed at the deep end and tread water while I swam a 200yd swim. My training plan called for a 200 meter swim today, so that’s about all I did. Then I tread some water with her and then we hung out in the hot tub for a while.

It was a cinch workout — I don’t really know that I would even consider it a “workout” except that it’s exactly what my training plan called for so I supposed I should take credit for it.

I didn’t make it to the Y last night for the bike ride. I ended up working late and then running some errands. (sigh) I have to go tonight or tomorrow morning. No choice. It’s my first week of training; I can’t miss a workout now!

  1. Hey - of course it’s a workout. If it’s in the plan, then it counts! Of course, you have to take the rough with the smooth though, so when the plan tells you it’s time to spend two hours running in the rain . . . .

  2. See…now…Karl had to go remind me that just ’cause its raining, I shouldn’t be telling Bob to walk Shiloh. But, he’s right, enjoy the easy plan days so you can enjoy the hard ones even more!
