more recruits!

I met Tommy’s co-worker and new (but good) friend “Britt” this past weekend. Throughout the evening, Britt mentioned his insecurity about his weight more than once — he used it as the butt of his jokes most of the evening. I told him he should learn the “joy of motion” (thanks Sarah!) and before he knew it, he’d befeeling great about his body! I also told him I was just learning it myself during the process of training for a Sprint Tri. Do you know what he said to me?

“Oh I have done a few tri’s in my day…”

The man has completed two ironman triathlons! The last one he did was in 1993 and literally 80lbs ago. He said “Then I got married and I got happy and I ate.”

BUT guess what! Today I emailed Tommy and said “Ask Britt if he’d like to do the Sprint Tri, that way you can have someone to train with and you can do it also.”

Britt jumped right on it. He knows it’ll help with the weight loss and knows he can do it. He immediately said “yes, Tommy let’s get a training plan and begin Monday.”

Ahhhhh!! I am so excited! Now Tommy is FOR SURE going to do the triathlon with me! And he has someone to help push him, also. Someone he really respects, too.

Anyway — how cool is that?! :-D I’m pumped!

  1. Brava! Reminds me how I got started back on the road to fitness. Often it only takes an invitation, and people want to be asked. Keep recruiting, Liz!

  2. Britt is not alone in the “got married..happy…ate.” department. It’s funny how we can learn to continue to be married, happy and eating but exercising too.

    Keep bringin’m in!

  3. That’s great to hear! I hope my husband can jump on the exercise bandwagon someday!
