Turkey Trot
The Turkey Trot is in two days. I’m getting nervous. Except not really. I am remembering Tommy’s sisters words ringing in my ears when she talked about last years race: “I just turned on my ipod and took off — ran the whole thing, it was my first race and I never trained.” If she can do that… I can run three miles with the little bit of training I have had. This summer I had never run a whole mile in my life without stopping. I am pretty sure with a new music mix, the excitement all around me and the confidence I have, I should be FINE. I may walk up the hills if it gets to the point where I need rest. But seriously? I should be able to run three miles. I can run two. Why not three? Especially with music and people everywhere!
So… it’s coming up. I’m excited… Tommy is running it, too… he should finish way before me and be able to take some pictures of me crossing the finish line. I will come in last behind all of the people I know running — but hopefully I will be RUNNING across the finish line!
I’m excited!

Filed under: Goals, Just for fun, Run

Make sure you don’t start off sprinting like most people. I found in my first few races that starting off slow made it easier to finish without stopping and that was my main goal at the start of running!
Plus…. most of those fast out of the gate people — i passed in the last 1/2 of the race when they slowed to almost a walk or were walking.
Control at the start is a good idea. The music player is a good idea too I think. Really lets you run your race vs running someone else’s. Good look. Have fun. And tell us how it goes.
