just a little ramble

So after my little lesson on nutrition on Friday I have been keeping an eye out on the foods I am ordering at restaurants. (I eat out a little too much…) So far, no red meat… and that’s about it.

I am sitting here on my couch, laptop in my lap, watching TV… and have a strong desire to go running. But. I just ate a bowl of cream of wheat. And two pieces of white toast. And coffee with too much cream and sugar. And all I can think about is how much it is going to hurt when I run.

On that note — I hurt my knee! It continues to grow more sore as time passes. It hurts the most when I am walking down the stairs and I have all my weight on the one knee… I am hoping it will pass.

I had a rest day yesterday so I really want to get out and do SOMEthing today. I would like to purchase some warm running pants (leggings) and a knee brace first, though. And since I live in the Bible Belt I have to wait until lunchtime for any of the stores to open AND for the YMCA to open as well. (sigh) That’s what I get for skipping church today.
Just rambling…

I have missed this blog! :-D

  1. Hmmm…. I’ve done the “hoping it will pass” thing and ended up having to pull out of the ride that was my whole season training goal. I really wish I could rewind and do that over again. I’d either get it checked out or do some good Internet research to see what treatments you can find for the kind of pain you have.

  2. I agree with Jeff.

Also remember ICE and Anti-Inflametory Meds (Ibubrofen works best for me).

  3. can’t say for sure without looking at it, but pain going downstairs is often patellofemoral pain. not so hard to treat unless you let it go a long tiime, then it hangs on. so go get it checked to you can keep running! (also, if you don’t have good shoes, it’ll get worse. wish i could see your gait. usually it’s a combination of the above icing, hip and quad strenthening, calf flexibility and shoes or orthotics.) hope that helps!
