falling into the trap that is the Y

I went to the local YMCA this morning as a guest of a good friend of mine. (My biking buddy, Dana!) It is one of those brand-new-YMCA’s with all the new stuff.

Anyway. They have a pool that’s open at the hours I need it open. And they have spinning classes beginning at 6am. And a lot of cardio machines (ellipticals, treadmills, stair machine thingies).

And my friends. My friends are there. The ones that actually WANT to work out on a regular basis. So I think I am going to do it. I’m going to sign up and become a member of the local YMCA.

Wheeee!

  1. good for you!!! it’s good motiviation to be around people who love to work out, that’s awesome!

  2. I used to work out at the Y. I met some great workout partners there. We used to run together on the weekends.

  3. I used to belong to a local YMCA (we’ve since moved and there’s no Y near us now). I couldn’t help humming the Village People every time I went in, though. But I loved it! They had a rock climbing wall, but I was never brave enough to try it.

  4. I’m also a former YMCAer - love ‘em! and 6am spinning is the BEST! I’ve been doing it at least once a week for a few years and it gets the day off to a great start - plus you get to have ’second breakfast’ after!

  5. Hey Liz, how’s it going? Are you hitting the Y lately?
