I’m still here
A lot has been happening over here. Here’s some news…
First… I have to admit. I am totally guilty of just turning onto a wedding-planning machine. I am a planner by heart anyway. So give me the event of my life to plan? Oh I have been ALL over it. I’ve heard more then a handful of times “you have time… you have time.” Ha ha. Sad… but true.
Second… the wedding date has moved to April 12, 2008. That is the day before my first triathlon. BUT… it’s for the better. Because now I have a very good reason to race in a triathlon across the straight approximately 3 weeks prior to my wedding date! It’s a flatter course, a shorter bike course and the overall course is much easier (or, perhaps just much less intimidating)! I wanted to run in this race from the beginning, but it just didn’t make much sense when there would be a race right in my town 3 weeks later. Anyway, now I can! And Tommy’s sister is super excited to do it with me! Very exciting.
Third… my 28 year old cousin passed away during the night last Thu night. The cause? A brain anyuerism. That’s quite freaky because less than two years ago my 50 year old Uncle died from the same thing. (Not his dad, but his dad’s brother. Stick with me here. ;)) With the exception that one happened during the day and one during the night. Anyway… I’ll be traveling to a funeral this week. (sigh)
It’s going to be a full fledged military service. I still kind of feel in shock. Saturday I got a myspace comment from him. Freaky, no? It was one of those comments that appears on all your friends’ pages when you click on an ad or something. Someone had logged into his account. Not cool.
Anyway… enough about that.
The exercise has been non-existent. Oddly enough, I am beginning to see the results of all my activity for July/August! That has encouraged me to get up and going again. But now the cold weather is discouraging! Anyway, it’s to the gym from now on I suppose.
My weight watchers plan lasted a day or two. But I’ve got all the materials I need so I’ll be starting again tomorrow. I’m going grocery shopping tonight with my roommate, finally.
That’s that. Sorry I’ve been so quiet… just been spending all my online time looking at wedding stuff. I miss you all though… and I miss my activity! I’m gonna get back into a routine very soon. ![]()

We miss you too. Sounds like a tough time, but with a big bright light at the end of the tunnel. What’s the actual date for your triathlon?
Yeah, I missed you too! Sorry to hear about your cousin! That is really sad! And I was the total opposite kind of bride, I made the big decisions a little while after we got engaged (okay like 10 months) and then made the final decisions only in the months before! I was so anti-bridezilla! LOL
Anyway, I’m sure you’re having fun planning the big day! Make sure you don’t get injured before the big day, you want to dance and have a good time! That was the only thing I was worried about, that I would run and hurt my knee or my dog would bite my face… and then the day would be stinky. But all in all, I just lost a toe nail, which wasn’t a big deal!
Thanks for letting us know all your news. I’m so sorry to hear of your loss & my thoughts are with you. And on the other news…keep having fun with all the wedding planning. If you enjoy it, go for the fun of it!
Sorry to hear about your cousin. I’m thinking about you and your family.
Glad to hear you get to do the triathlon that you really want to do. It will be more fun to do the tri a few weeks before the wedding instead of the day before.
Liz,
So sorry to hear your sad news. And sorry to hear about the strange way that internet sends messages in times like this. It can really get to you.
As for wedding planning… I just went to a wedding this past weekend for a dear family friend. Actually it was a woman (I won’t call her a girl anymore) who nannied for us. She was with us for 4 years and our daughters really love her. Anyway, she asked them to be flower girls in her wedding. It was such a beautiful ceremony… I totally started crying. I may be in Ironman, but I’m soft as a stuffed bear when it comes to true love.
Anyway, I’m sure you’ll do a great job of planning your wedding. You’re creativity will shine through… and make it a truly special occasion.
I agree with everyone else, doing a tri a couple weeks before the wedding will probably be a good pre-wedding break to help get your mind off of last minute details… and it will reduce the risk of an injury messing up your special day.
Good luck. We’re thinking of you.
Sorry to hear about your cousin. I’m glad you are able to find joy in wedding planning and tri training.
Good luck - I’m thinking of you
I’m sorry to hear about your cousin. It’s unsettling when people are taken so suddenly like that.
Looking forward to hearing more about your wedding! I love weddings and live vicariously through others. Mine was a while ago, so some of the details are a bit foggy.
And you are amazing to do a tri the day after! You are going to be so svelt for your big day!
