but this is the women’s room!
Remember how I was (not really) afraid I might accidentally walk into the mens’ room this morning? Well… something similar happened.
I finished my run… which, really was the longest run of my life. I guess. I mean, I ran 1.5 mi the other day, straight, followed by a 1/4 mi walk and then a 1/4 mi jog. Today I ran this:
- 1/4 mi walk
- 1 mile jog
- 1/4 mi walk
- 1 mile jog
So… technically… I ran 2 miles in one workout. Which is the longest ever. But when I run 2 miles without walking, THAT will be a better accomplishment in my eyes.
Anyway… I finished up the run (which, again, had it’s ups and downs… the music helped I think) and got to the gym on campus (at new job). I went into the handicapped shower area (there are like 4 available) because the temperature was cooler in there. Well, it’s behind the regular shower area… so I was separated from the main mirror/sink area by an entire room, not just a wall. If you can imagine that.
I took my shower, dried off and (thankfully) got dressed. I packed everything up to go out into the mirror/sink area to do my hair/make-up. And… there were two men in there! Two janitors! I said “well, good morning guys!!” They were shocked… and kind of disturbed. They could get in huge trouble, you know.
Anyway, eventually we talked and one guy explained to me that faculty/staff are able to use the facilities ANYtime they are unlocked. They don’t technically open to the students until 7am, but he said they are there at 5am and faculty/staff members are on the workout machines by 5:30-6ish sometimes. How cool! That’s awesome.
He also showed me the private locker room facilities for coaches and told me I could use them and also use a locker. It’s basically it’s own bathroom with a shower, sink, toilet and a LOCK on the DOOR. And… it’s all free for me! Yipeee!
I tried really hard to remember my times and press the little “start” button at each split… but I really didn’t do very well. I wrote down what I remembered… and I left it in the car. Oh well, maybe at this point I should not be worried about times. (Except, I have this feeling that my second mile may have been faster than the first and I would like to know if that’s true.)

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! After you’d said you’d try to avoid going into the wrong room, this was almost bound to happen.
Your own private locker room sounds more like it though. Do you get to borrow the company jet at the weekend too?
Liz! Love the new theme! Awesome header image!
That is great Liz! And you get the cool locker room!
[...] Well… Backtrack: the previous day I was a little eager to use my MP3 player for the really long run I had. I knew I would need it. And the battery was dead. So, I used my resources and took one out of the DVD remote control. [...]
